Cody O'Neill, son of a noble in the court of Idrila and best friend to the heir of the kingdom of Aseretia, finds himself thrust into a mire of lies, hatred, and magic when he is falsely accused of stealing a precious stone from a band of passing merchants. Matters escalate when a terrible death disrupts the political hierarchy in Idrila. Cody and his friends are tasked with a dangerous quest and are hard pressed to simply survive as they travel across mountains and deep forests. But they must do more than survive if they are ever to see peace again, and the tyrant who took the throne isn't helping.
